The Ironman 2012
The Ironman, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, is always a great race full of mud, cold temperatures and lots of fun! The goal for the weekend is to "go pink" in support of Breast Cancer Awareness! Team MPR rocked it this year! Thank you to Mike Plourde at Dynamic Graphics for the great jersey design!
Autograph Session @ Mud Motorsports in Martinsville, Indiana October 2012
A big thanks to Josh Lane for the invitation. Mike, and his crew, had a great time meeting everyone, enjoying refreshments and signing posters. If you get a chance, check out Mud Motorsports Facebook page.
Trailfest 2012
Mike and Sarah attended the 2012 Trailfest at the Hatfield McCoy Riding Area in West Virginia. It's always great to see towns supporting ATV riders! It's also great to know that the event supported Mud Buddies; what a great organization!

Baja 500
June 4, 2011
We are proud to announce on Saturday June 4th Mike Penland and his good friend, Carl Vella, won the Score Baja 500 off road race in Mexico. Mike has participated in over 15 Baja races and has won 6. In the Baja 500, motorcycles, trophy trucks and ATV's all race together on the same course at the same time. Our vehicle was a Can-Am Outlander 800 ATV. The entire course is off road and totals 453 miles. In Baja there is a section called "the summit". It is some of the most difficult terrain we have ever encountered. In the first ten miles into the race, Carl hit a deep rut and slammed his sternum into the GPS unit. At first, he thought the race was over, but after he pulled over and got his breath back he was able to get back on the bike and ride. Carol then handed over the quad to Mike again. Mike rode the first 40, got back on at mile 205 and handed off to Carl at mile 415. There were 254 total teams (motorcycle, truck, and ATV) that started the race and 166 finished. We came in 1st in class #26. A total of 32 ATV's started the race and 20 finished. We completed the race in 15 hours and 31 minutes a full hour in front of second place.
From Mike:
I would like to thank Carl for the opportunity to race again in the Baja 500. I appreciate you and our friendship. Most importantly, I thank God for the strength, and ability, to be able to race.

Just talked to Dustin; having issues getting reception and can't get on FB now; start at 7a their time (10 here). Definitely riding from mile 70/75? to 330; may have to ride more near the end. They are still working on the 4-wheeler and trying to get it "right" before the race. The total time line for the race... is 45 hours this year

Talked to Dustin today; four wheelers start at 11 on Thursday. (2 our time). He will start driving @ mile 70 and run to almost mile 400 if all goes as planned. After that he will run chaser for their other riders. (so he can get help in event of breakdown or accident). Thank goodness that means he won't have to d...o the night-time racing!!! Everybody say a special prayer to bring them all home safe and sound!!
Headed back to Ensenada yesterday morning, had another flat on the truck, found 3 used tires after 3 hours of searching, on the road for less then an hour blew out two more truck tires. Me and Edgar got a bus ride back to Ensenada where we have a van, then try too find 4 new tires this morning and a 6-7 hour drive back to the truck.
